Shallow catch-all tray
Measure
Measure the outside footprint and the usable inside base; thick walls can make them quite different.
Check
Look for a depth that lets you see and retrieve your frequent small items. Check the base finish against your desk surface.
Try first
Try a saucer or spare shallow box first. If everything ends up stacked, the tray has not fixed the retrieval problem.
Check clearance for the paper size, including folders, and the space needed to lift a stack out.
Check
One named purpose, such as “needs action”, is more useful than several unnamed tiers. Check stability when stacked if the manufacturer permits stacking.
Try first
A tray sorts location, not decisions. Give its contents a review point.
Measure your notebook, small accessories, storage shelf and carrying route. Do not assume it can support a laptop.
Check
Check handles, stated load, closure and whether items remain contained when carried. A desk caddy and a protective electronics bag have different jobs.
Try first
Test the handover using a box you already own before deciding how many compartments you need.

What an Amazon search tells you
It shows current search results, which can vary. It does not verify every listing’s dimensions, material, compatibility or seller. Read the exact product information and manufacturer instructions. We do not publish live prices, ratings, stock claims or claims of personal product testing.
A little transparency: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Shopping links are marked “Ad · affiliate link” and open Amazon UK searches. Check the actual product, dimensions and seller before buying.
